Venue

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, has a beatiuful historical centre, written on the Wold Heritage List of UNESCO.

Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague

The lectures will be held in the building of Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague located at the heart of Prague. Also, lunches and dinners will be served there.

Accommodation

Foreign participants will be accommodated in the Masaryk dormitory "Masarykova kolej" at the address Thákurova 1, 160 41, Praha 6, three stops of metro A (the green one) from the school venue. Getting from the dormitory to the venue takes up to 20 minutes travelling by public transportation by metro A from Dejvická to Staroměstská station. The booking has been done by the organizers. The dormitory provides double rooms. If you prefer any roomamate, you can indicate it at the registration form. If no preference is given, the occupancy will be set by the organizers. The accomodation has to be paid by participants directly to the dormitory. Selected participants will be given a grant by the COST association to cover the expenses.

Lecturers will be accommodated at Novomestsky hotel. Getting from the hotel to the venue takes approx. 15 minutes travelling by public transportation by tram no. 18 from Novoměstská radnice. The booking has been done by the organizers. The accomodation has to be paid by lecturers directly to the hotel and it will be reimbursed by the COST association.

Food

Breakfasts will be served as part of the accommodation at he hotel/dormitory.

Lunches and dinners for all registered participants and lecturers will be served at the school venue.

The social dinner will be hosted by beautiful Vila Lanna.

Currency

The official currency of the Czech Republic is "Ceska koruna" (Czech crown), sign: Kč, code: CZK. International credit and debet cards are widely accepted in restaurants and shops. Payment in EUR is also available in some restaurants and shops.

Exchange of foreign currency is available in Prague at the Airport and at most hotels, banks and exchange offices throughout the city. However, the rates that some exchanges use may differ a lot. We strongly recommend Exchange at Kaprova street, nearby the venue: https://www.exchange.cz/en

 

Travelling to Prague

Common ways of getting to Prague are flying to "Vaclav Havel Airport Prague" or travelling by international trains.

We recommend to use bus no. 119 for the journey from the airport to Nádraží Veleslavín and metro A to station Dejvická to get to the dornitory. We recommend to take bus no. 100 to Zličín and change there to metro B to the station Karlovo náměstí to get to the hotel.

The venue can be reached from the airport by bus no. 199 to Nádraží Veleslavín and then by metro A to station Staroměstská.

 

Getting around in Prague

The public transportation system in Prague consists of buses, metro and trams. There is also a funicular going onto the top of the hill "Petřín" with beautiful view over the Old Town and the central parts of the New Town. Tickets can be bought in the yellow vending machines at larger stations or at most newspaper shops. Tickets must be validated inside the bus/tram or in metro station lobby in one of the yellow validators. All tickets are transfer tickets, i.e., you are allowed to change among different kinds of transportation as many time as you need until the ticket expires.
